The Soldiers of Michigan have been protecting their land since it was declared a state in 1837. The great peninsula sent more than 90,000 Soldiers to fight in the Civil War, and the Michigan Army National Guard's division received four campaign streamers in WWI. Since then, the Michigan Guard has served in most major conflicts abroad, and they also serve in their state during crises like the Detroit riots in 1967. Since 9/11, 6,000 Michigan Guard members have followed their path to honor either at home or abroad. Learn more about how you can follow it, too.
