Guard & VA Employment

More Rewarding Than You Ever Imagined

Working full-time for the Veterans Health Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs and serving part-time in the National Guard heightens both your personal and your professional benefits. You’ll fuse two paths into a career that fulfills the needs of the military and the medical demands of its patients. In the Guard, you’ll participate in groundbreaking medical treatments. At VA, you’ll work with award-winning medical technologies as you care for veterans in all stages of life. As a medical professional in both organizations, you’ll develop an even closer connection with your patients.

Plus, by combining Guard service and VA employment, you’re eligible for education loan repayment assistance from both organizations. VA medical professionals can benefit from the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), while the Guard offers the Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) to members who qualify.

With EDRP, you can receive up to $38,000 in education loan repayment for tuition, fees, books, and reasonable living expenses. For more information, call VA at 504-589-5267.
