going to meps

i leave tomorrow at 4pm to go take the asvab, then i have my physical on wednesday...barring any unforeseen dq's, i'll be sworn in wednesday afternoon! anybody have any tips for making meps a little more bearable? :)

I just finished MEPS its an experence that you won't forget but yeah don't expect it to be over quickly lots on waiting.

ARNG Liason told us to get in the shortest line, regardless of what step of the physical is next. I.e. if the vision test line is shorter than the hearing test, do vision first. I did this and was done with MEPs by 1400hrs. Good luck!

When I went they had a 12 inch tv with womens softball. I watched that and waited for about 3 hours, so yea good luck hope it goes some what quickly

Ha they had bigger TVs but it had the View on it was horrible.

Denver Meps is pretty good. they have a big tv , game room, and they move fairly fast. GOOd luck at meps, its a long boring day.

Just thought i'd welcome you to the WIARNG a little early. I'm sure MEPS will go just fine for you. You went to Milwaukee MEPS? I havent had the opportunity, we went to Minnesota because driving wise its the same distance to both. You may have posted it before but I dont remember, what MOS and unit did you end up with? When do you leave for training? Listen carefully and take it seriously. Believe it or not one day you will miss your initial training. Not all of it but a few aspects you will. Take it one meal to the next and one Sunday to the next.

When I went I had everything but the swearing in done by lunch, then I didn't get to swear in till 4:00.

here's a little update on my situation....i arrived 15 minutes late for the test, and the guy at the front desk was going to let me take it...until a marine officer comes out of nowhere and says that nobody can test after 6 unless you have an exception to policy. ugh. so i got to stay at the hotel, get up and go to meps and sit for 9 hrs. until i could test at 3pm today. :eek: so now i get to do my physical tomorrow. (why they couldn't let me test this morning and physical, i don't know...)

i'm planning on an administrative mos...i think i'll get it, seeing as i scored a 96 on the asvab(didn't see that coming.) :) i can't remember the name or number at the moment. my recruiter and i picked one w/ a short ait so i can get all my training done in one summer between school. i'm not sure which unit i'm attached to yet(i'll let you know when i find out), i just know i'll be doing rsp at camp douglas. and i'm planning on leaving for training as soon as school is done next spring.

i am finally done and enlisted! it turns out i got 92F for my mos and i am attached to Co D 132 BSB in baraboo but will be doing rsp in camp douglas. my ship date is 20090520 and i will be doing basic at fort jackson and ait at fort lee.
