I'm not even sure if I'm able to join the Army because of my health. My name is Courtney and I'm 16 at the moment. I've already requested info from my local recruiter. I'm 5'5" and 180 pounds... (the heaviest I've ever been). I'm not exactly FAT but I am thick (I'm also pretty muscular) I have asthma (controlled with inhaler and Singular) and a heart murmur in one of my heart valves but it doesn't really restrict me from anything. The only time it can be heard is when I'm really sick. I have to take medication before dentist or ortho appointments or oral surgeries but otherwise I'm fine. Do these conditions disqualify me? I'd like to join the guard to help me through college and to serve our country and I've always wanted to be an army nurse but parents are more keen about the National Guard then full blown Army.
