I am an E-5, currently on active duty. Thinking about getting out and looking at the Guard. Ready to stay in one place, but want to stay in the military. State of Alabama. Is there an enlistment bonus or rank incentive for prior service, Marines? Any help? Thanks.

I just re-enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard and got 15k for 6 years. Alabama has one of the largest NG's in the country. Only thing I would say is that most of our units are getting activated pretty often right now.

You can get a Prior Service Enlistment Bonus of $15,000. Also ask the recruiter to look into the Affliation Bonus if you qualify it is $20,000. You also keep your rank. I have enlisted several former Marines. The guard is a good place for someone who wants to stay put but can't give up the uniform.
