There is no quick fix to losing weight. Diet and exercise. Slowly but surely, you will lose weight and get more toned.

If there were a simple, fast way to get skinny, there wouldn't be the obesity problem in the United States.

Chris-
Have you been "taped" to measure you body fat? It doesn't sound like you're far off from your target weight. If you don't meet height and weight standards, you can get in if your body fat is low enough. I once enlisted a guy that was 6'1" and weighed 264. He was in good shape and had been working out, watching his diet and running for a long time before he finally passed tape at MEPS. The doctors did a double take on the tape, but sure enough, he was only 24% body fat. You can't safely lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks, but you can run everyday to burn fat, lift weights to get you neck bigger, and work on abdominal exercises to firm up the midsection. Some people are just big and are always going to be big. That's why the Army has the provision to allow for people that aren't the "ideal" weight for their height.

I think a good combination of lean protein diet (chicken breast, tuna, turkey) will help a lot, cut out anything made out of flower (bread, cereal), cut out the sweets, and most starches (potatoes, and most grains). Run and lift weights.

I think I fall into a different weight category, as I'm a bodybuilder, 5'10.5" at almost 240lbs. I'm around 18% body fat right now, but before I go in I will lean out hard to get to my goal of 10%, and I would actually like to put on about 10lbs. You would be surprised, but it hasn't affected my running at all, as I run 5 times a week before I lift weights. I think just it has given me a lot of resistance to injury. I was hit while riding my motorcycle (wearing a helmet and body shield) and broke nothing, the doctor at emergency room said it was because of muscularity. When I was in basic about 12 years ago, USMC (God, does time fly), there were so many people who were developing stress fractures, and I always attributed it to lack of leg muscles (remember the foot has muscles too and when you lift heavy on your legs, the feet get stronger, the ancle joints get more support too)
