20 in 20 is a lofty and maybe unrealistic goal. Do not put yourself and your health at risk. Check out the Health and Fitness topic in the forum for some info that has been posted.

You can't drop fat that fast. You might be able to drop muscle, water and some fat. Even if you get in it will be very hard in basic as you're going to be sick.
I really think you should try to do a tape test. as for food on a "crash diet" i would go with tuna ,baked chicken and vegetables.
Goodluck. Don't make yourself sick. you can always wait little longer.

Yeah not a very realistic goal. But if you work out and eat right and drink plenty of water and avoid salt you should be good to go in a reasonable time period. I would stay away from the diet pills also.

Track what you eat in a day and write down the calories... You can use the estimate against nutritional and diet information the medical community publishes - or the like.
It is not all about calories - as calories are not the same for everything you eat (I am not talking the amount of calories, but how your body processes them). I posted a few things in the Helath and Fitness section recently you can look at.

Chris,
In all honesty you need to be realistic with yourself and your goals. If in the end you require being "hand-held" through life then perhaps you might want to rethink being a soldier. You need to take responsibility and use personal fortitude to identify what you want and how you are going to accomplish it. This is required of all soldiers, to be able to think on thier feet and make things happen.
It is one thing to ask for assistance and/or information - it is another to simply play around the issue. What you need to do is get with your recruiter, and if you do not have one get one. You need to sit down and map out your goals, and if you are unsure, get the information from the source on opportunities. When you ask for assistance - and many people are willing to offer assistance, you need to not only provide the pertinant infomration as opposed to bits and pieces, so that help can be given.
If help is offered the least you can do is check into it, and if it works for you great - if not simply move on. I hope that after a bit of thought, you come back to this ready to effect solutions as opposed to hee-hawing around. Once you become a soldier you will be expected to be responsible for both your actions and inactions, now is the time to begin a positive pursuit of using provided information and making it work.
I am not trying to be discouraging, but honest. You must have the desire to make things happen - no one else will make them happen for you.

Now we are talking! just you seem to be cramming :( You may have some issues with the wieght fluxuation in regards to your eating habits. Good or bad you are where you are at.
As your time is limited, I will be to the point - it may be better to eat breakfast as opposed to skipping it, maybe a small lunch or decent snack to get you going, and a small dinner. One thing a lot of people go through (and I have been there) is the body making up for lost nutrition with one meal late in the day - when most people are trying to wind down. This can be a reason for the fluxuation you have that seems to be overnight.
Your body may have gotten into the pattern of storing fat to provide for the energy requirements of the next day, and in one meal sometimes that means you may be eating more than you need to be in one sitting - some food is processed to make up for the day, the rest is stored. Check out some things I posted in the Health and Fitness section - as well try this:
- Eat a small breakfast, be it a meal replacement bar, yogurt, juice, toast with PEANUT butter - if you want, throw in some coffee without sugar and creamer or tea.
- Try to have lunch, or at least two small snacks during the day, such as fruit, a hard-boiled egg, or something like a Balance bar.
- Have a small dinner, emphasis on small - what is considered a normal portion as opposed to what we are used to.
- Vary the times of day you eat, this helps the matabolism
- have two 3 day work out plans M-W-F and T-Th-S that are heavy on cardio and aerobic excercise for the whole body, mixed with your muscle group workouts.
- WATER WATER WATER no sodas, no diet sodas... Hey a soda once in a while (like during a movie on the weekend is not bad, just not every day)

Breakfast is your most important meal of the day followed by lunch, if you are going to skip a meal skip dinner. The program I am following is 6 small meals spread out through the day with lots and lots of water and no salt. To lose weight you also need to work out regularly. M-W-F are good days for upper body and T-Th-Sa are good for cardio.Take sunday off completly and let your body recover. When/if trying to build muscle you should give your muscles 1 day of rest between workouts.
Also if you fail the height / weight there is always the tape test which computes your total body fat. Personally I rarely meet the height / weight requirments because I am so broad shouldered but I always pass the tape test.

So run and use the stair master for lower body then swim for upper body?
Does that sound good

Yes all those are good, you are going to want to throw in some weight training for your upper body also to help improve your push ups.

is a BMI the same calculated info as a tape test? I just want to know, because my current BMI is 28, that's a long way coming from a 33. If that's the case, i'm all in.
You'll get a lot of good suggestions if you go to the subcategory of "Training-Health and Fitness". Quite a few threads have been started regarding diets. Good luck!:)

I did MEPS yesterday. I weighed in at 228, and 72" tall (male). They taped me and I passed with a calculated body fat of about 22%. Of course, I'm 29 and am allowed up to 28%, I think. I thought that I would surely have to do the ARMS test. Of course, I would never want to attemp basic at that weight, though.
