I understand one has to be clean shaven as part of the uniform, but, I hate shaving! It really messes up my face.. plain old razor bumps would look pretty on me.

My recruiter told me I could speak with the doc once I land BT and I could get permission to shave every 2 days or such.

I was wondering, does one have to use a specific kind of razor? At home I just trim my beard short til it looks like a 5 o'clock shadow. Would that do?

in basic, you have to be clean shaven. if it really bothers you that much, you can go on sick call, and if the doctors do deem that your skin is too sensitive, then they give you a paper that excuses you from having to shave everyday, or they will allow you to get an electric razor that isnt as harsh on the skin.

Make sure you do not use a razor that isn't extremely sharp. If they're dull at all, it will mess up your face.

I usually only use those disposable ones twice.

I have a VERY thick beard. I can eat up a Mach 3 blade in 3 shaves. Just make sure you are using a good razor and make sure its SHARP
