I have a quick question about gas masks or anything else you may need to wear in BCT/AIT that will not allow you to wear glasses at the same time. Are you issued a prescription shield to put on the inside of your masks so you can still see without your glasses? How do the requirements work for those who wear glasses in relation to masks?

Not at all.
I'm looking more for what you are issued through the military. Specifically, if you are issued an insert that has your eyesight prescription.

You will be required to wear prescription glasses needed to compensate for diminished vision, to include the gas mask inserts.

I haven't heard that they will proivde this surgery. They do allow people in that have had certain types of the surgery, where it wasn't that way before.

There are military facilities that allow active duty soldiers to sign up to be on a waiting list to get LASIC corrective eye surgery. Special Operations units have priority. This procedure is currently not offered to traditional National Guard soldiers.

Bump! I know this is a very old thread but I was wondering something. I already wear glasses for near vision which isn't bad (near meaning I can't see far away).... Will they make me wear those big ugly brown glasses or can I keep the ones I have now?
Sorry for bringing up a old thread but I figured it would be pointless to start a new one when there was one on glasses already.
Thanks!
