When does BCT start if I ship out on Oct. 4?

I've actually got a couple of questions. I ship out Oct. 4th to Ft. Knox for BCT then I'm off to Ft. Sam Houston for AIT. Oct. 4th is a Wednesday and I'm curious if week 0(Reception) begins as soon as I step on base? Because if it does thats going to give me a graduation date that falls some were on or near Dec 6. Leaving me with a whole month before I need to report to AIT!! What do people usually do for that gap? Is military only going to pay for a ticket form BCT to AIT? Or will they pay for a ticket from my home state to AIT? I know they won't pay for me to fly back home during that gap but will they pay for me to fly to AIT?

Well, reception is between one to two weeks long; mine was 5 days. After Basic, you'll be shipped to AIT, where you'll have to wait until a class starts. Don't worry, you'll have your fill of drill sergeants before you're out of AIT. Just because you pass BCT doesn't mean you get treated any better. Plus, one good reason to become a drill sergeant.... you don't have to be deployed. I'd rather be deployed 10 times that make soldiers lives ****.... they don't weed people out, they single out people they don't like.
